ANNVILLE, Pa. – Five Albright baseball players had multi-hit games, but the Lions couldn't keep up with Lebanon Valley's offensive performance in a 14-9 loss to the Dutchmen on Wednesday afternoon.
The trouble started in the first inning as the Dutchmen scored four runs in the first inning and added a fifth in the second inning. Albright pushed back in the top of the third inning.
Jimmie Gentry hit a two-run homer to make it 5-2, and the Lions added another in the top of the fourth inning when
Tanner Brescancine singled home
Joe Suppa. Brescancine went 2-for-4.
Ahead 5-3, Lebanon Valley took complete control of the game through the middle innings. The Dutchmen responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, a single run in the fifth and four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 13-3.
Albright came back with a
Logan Adams single to score
Brandon Daubert in the top of the seventh inning. Adams went 2-for-5, and Daubert was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Trailing 13-4 entering the eighth inning, Albright put up a five-spot to cut the deficit to 13-9.
Logan Pennypacker singled home a run for one of his two hits. Daubert got his two RBIs with a two-run single that scored Suppa and
Kyle Gantert. Gentry had an RBI groundout to make it 13-8, and
Jeff Yordy's infield single scored Daubert to make it 13-9. Yordy went 2-for-4.
Lebanon Valley got a run back in the bottom half to round out the scoring.
The Lions return to action on Friday at Arcadia at 3:30 p.m.
