BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Albright baseball team lost in non-conference action at Moravian, 14-4, on Thursday afternoon. Moravian scored five runs in the first inning as it never trailed in the contest.
After Moravian got the five runs in the first and added a run in the second to make it 6-0, Albright got on the board in the top of the third. After two outs,
Logan Pennypacker generated a run with his legs. He reached on an error, and he stole second and third base. On his steal of third, the throw got away allowing him to come home to make it 6-1.
The Lions inched closer in the top of the fourth.
Austin Roth's two-out single scored
Tanner Brescancine and
Noah Beebe to cut the Moravian lead to 6-3. Beebe led off the inning with a walk, and Bresncancine followed with a single through the left side.
Moravian expanded its lead to 13-3 thanks to two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and four more in the seventh.
Jimmie Gentry scored after reaching on an error and coming home on a Beebe ground out to second base. Moravian got that run back in the bottom of the eighth to round out the scoring.
Five Lions each had one hit. Pennypacker, Beebe and
Kyle Gantert added bases on balls to their base hits.
Albright moves back into conference action tomorrow with five MAC Commonwealth games in the next three days. The Lions travel to Hood tomorrow for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
