Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Adamo Lifts Men's Soccer to Overtime Win

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Junior Eric Adamo scored the game-winner with 2:37 left in the first overtime as the Albright men's soccer team kicked off 2018 with a 2-1 overtime victory over Immaculata on Friday night.

Adamo got behind the defense and potted the golden goal on a feed from freshman Billy Hanratty to give the Lions the thrilling win.

Both of Adamo's career goals have come against Immaculata after the Blandon, Pa., native scored in his first career game for Albright on Sept. 1, 2016.

This marks the second straight season that Albright has notched an overtime win over the Mighty Macs after picking up a 1-0 decision in the 2017 season opener. The Lions have won eight of their last nine season openers as a whole.

The Macs had a chance to win it earlier in the overtime period, but sophomore goalkeeper Brendan Hanratty made a sliding stop on a shot from Nick Boule.

Immaculata outshot the Lions 7-3 in the opening stanza, but neither team was able to breakthrough on the scoreboard. Alex Noel's header that rang the post in the 38th minute represented the best chance for the Mighty Macs in the first half.

Connor Lindsay's strike in the 49th minute put the hosts on the board and made it a 1-0 game.

Albright quickly responded however as freshman Hunter Jones recorded the equalizer on a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box in the 56th minute.

Immaculata held a 16-7 shot advantage for the contest including a 6-3 advantage in shots on target. Hanratty matched his career-high with five saves in net for the Lions.

Albright heads across town on Sunday, Sept. 2nd to take on Penn State Berks. Opening kick is slated for 1 p.m.
