Big First Half Carries Women's Soccer to 3-1 Victory

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Three first half goals proved to be the difference in the game as the Albright Lions women's soccer team (6-1-1) jumped out to an early lead in a 3-1 victory over the Delaware Valley Aggies (3-4) on Saturday afternoon at Lipinski Field.

Senior Kennedy Lutz got the scoring started in the 12th minute as she took a cross from freshman Autumn Bieber and headed it home past Aggies' keeper Haley Young. In the 19th minute, sophomore forward Lauren Haley took a through ball from Bieber and came in alone on the goalie to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. Just three minutes later, sophomore Amanda Fulcher scored her first goal of the season as she took a touch pass from Bieber and beat Young with a shot to the upper right part of the net.

Haley leads the team with seven goals on the year, while Lutz ranks second with five.

Sara Young scored the lone goal of the day for Delaware Valley with a free kick from 35 yards out in the 43rd minute.

Albright controlled play from the opening whistle and held a 25-3 advantage in shots including s 13-2 edge in shots on target. Haley paced the Lions with six shots, while Bieber and Fulcher recorded four apiece.

Senior goalie Payton Bogatch notched her second win of the season with one save, while Young made 10 saves for the Aggies.

The Lions will play their final non-conference game of the 2018 season on Tuesday, Sept. 25 when they head to New Jersey to battle FDU-Florham at 7 p.m.
