Men's Soccer Ties Wilson, 2-2

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's soccer team (1-2-1) used a pair of first half goals to earn a 2-2 draw with the Wilson Phoenix (1-2-1) on Saturday afternoon in Chambersburg.

Wilson grabbed an early 1-0 lead just over five minutes into the game as Silvio Andrade buried a rebound off an initial shot by Justin Vizzi that had been deflected by Lions' keeper Brendan Hanratty. Brendan's younger brother, Billy, scored his first collegiate goal in the 11th minute as he finished a similar chance on the other end following an initial shot from senior forward Anthony Parlato. Parlato struck in the 40th minute to give Albright a 2-1 edge heading into the locker room.

The Phoenix would not go quietly however as Andrade's shot was blocked in the 63rd minute before Ethan Russ collected the loose ball and tied the game at two with his team-leading seventh goal of the season seconds later.

Each team collected four shots over the two overtime periods, but neither was able to break through. The Lions put together a late rush with shots from Parlato and freshman Paul Baringanire in the latter stages of double overtime, but Wilson goalie Dan Perry made a save on both shot attempts.

Wilson held a 28-14 shot advantage in the contest and a 14-9 edge in shots on target. Parlato recorded four shots and Hanratty chipped in with three to pace the Lions, while Russ had seven shots to lead the Phoenix.

The elder Hanratty recorded his second straight double-digit save total with 12, while Perry stopped seven shots for Wilson.

Albright returns to action on Tuesday Sept. 11 when they head to Maryland to battle the McDaniel Green Terror at 4 p.m.
