READING, Pa. – In a rainy conference contest on Wednesday evening, the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley netted two goals for a victory over Albright men's soccer at Shirk Stadium.
The Lions fall to 0-3 in MAC Commonwealth play and 5-9 overall while the Dutchmen improve to 2-1-1 and 6-6-2 on the season.
The first half saw nine shots from Lebanon Valley and a lone shot from sophomore
Davon Garvey. The Dutchmen got on the board in the 27
th minute off a goal from senior Mitch Crane, who rebounded a shot from sophomore Peter Foerster. Three minutes later senior Nathan Moshgat found the back of the net off a ball from sophomore David Alcock for a 2-0 Dutchmen lead. Senior goalkeeper
Billy Mullen registered four saves in the first half for the Lions.
In the second 45 minutes of play, Albright pressed offensively and took four shots to Lebanon Valley's 11. Mullen tallied four more saves and the Lions' defense held the Dutchmen for a final score of 2-0.
The Lions took five shots within the 90 minutes and were paced by junior
Alex Lahey led Albright with two shots. Sophomore
Yaniv Gonyoe added a shot that knocked the right post in the 51
st minute. For the Dutchmen, Kazuya Hirano led in shots taken with three.
Mullen ended the game with eight total saves and Lebanon Valley's sophomore goalkeeper Sean Quirk earned the win and shutout in net.
The Lions will travel to Arcadia on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a 1 p.m. game.
