READING, Pa. – In their final home contest of the 2019 season, the Albright Lions women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-21) contest to Messiah in MAC Commonwealth play on Tuesday night at the Bollman Center.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 9-10 overall on the season and 1-6 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Falcons improve to 22-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

Paige Westra each tallied four kills to lead the Lions. Andrefski added four blocks, while Westra also posted five digs. First-year

Alexa Poss paced the offense with 11 assists and added one kill.
Andrefski led the first set off with a kill before the Falcons took the next four points to go up 4-1. The Lions won three-straight points to tie the set at 4, but Messiah reeled off five-straight points of their own to take a 9-4 lead. The Falcons continued the run with strong offense as they took a 13-6 lead behind four kills. Albright fought back by taking five of the next seven points to cut the Falcon lead down to 15-11, but Messiah won 10 of the next 11 points to take set one at 25-12. Six of the last 10 points in that run were kills as they out-hit the Lions .375 to .000.
Messiah continued the strong offensive play into the second set as they jumped out to a 6-1 lead behind four more kills. The Falcons would extend their lead out to 11-4 before taking a commanding 14-5 lead. Albright would not get closer than eight points during the rest of the second set as the Falcons took it 25-13. The Lions got off to their best start of the night in the third set as they jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. Messiah came back with three-straight points to go up 4-3, but the Lions used three-straight points of their own to go up 6-4. The Falcons reeled off seven-straight points to take an 11-6 lead before Albright again battled back by winning five of the next six points to cut the lead down to one at 12-11. Albright tied the set at 14 off a kill from junior
Liz Bacovin, and found themselves down just one point at 17-16. However, Messiah took seven of the next eight points to grab control of the third set before closing it out at 25-21.
Mary Underman led the Falcons with a game-high 14 kills on a .545 hitting percentage. Rachel Garratt added eight kills, while Kristen Seibert tallied 21 assists in just playing the first two sets.
The Lions will conclude their season on Thursday, October 31
st as they will travel across Reading to face Alvernia at 7 p.m.
