FREDERICK, Md. – The Albright Lions field hockey team picked up a dominant 4-0 win over Hood in MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Lions pick up improve to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Blazers fall to 1-13 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
The Lions began to pressure early and often in the first quarter as they registered five shots and received a pair of penalty corners in the first 10 minutes. Despite the pressure, Blazer goalkeeper Nicole Bennett kept the Lions off the scoreboard with three saves in the first quarter. Albright got off 10 shots in the opening quarter. Kaley Donmoyer ripped a shot following a penalty corner past Bennett to make it 1-0 at the 16:03-mark. Albright extended its lead to 2-0 in the 24

Megan Keller notched her second goal of the season off an assist from senior
Brooke Yerger. Four minutes later, Yerger struck for her first collegiate goal to put Albright up 3-0.
The Lions held a 21-0 shot advantage at halftime, and continued to keep the pressure on as the second half began. Senior

Hannah Gallagher was denied in front just before the third quarter ended. The relentless Lions defense gave the Blazers little time in their own zone as they kept them without a shot for a third-straight quarter. The Lions had four shots all saved by new Blazer goalkeeper Kenzie Blair in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter, but Albright continued to maintain possession throughout. Donmoyer capped the scoring for the Lions in the 53
rd minute with her second of the day.
Albright held a 31-0 shot advantage for the game with 21 of them going on net. The Lions also held a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners as well in the contest. The Lions saw a trio of goalies play against the Blazers as junior goalkeeper
Brynne Schoppe earned the win after playing the first 30 minutes. Freshman
Charlotte Johnson and
Adele Thomas each played a quarter in the second half to close things out. Bennett suffered the loss after making seven saves in the first half, while Blair made nine saves in the final 30 minutes of the game. Yerger recorded a career-high three points, while Donmoyer recorded her first multi-goal game since McDaniel in October 2017.
