Alexa Poss registered her 1,000
th career assist as the Albright Lions women's volleyball team was swept in straight-sets by Lebanon Valley on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth play at the Bollman Center.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 7-8 overall and 0-5 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Dutchmen improve to 11-10 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Poss paced the Lions offense with 23 assists, while adding seven digs and two aces. Junior
Paige Westra led the Lions with six kills and nine digs on the evening. Junior
Liz Bacovin and first-year
Grace Andrefski each posted five kills, while sophomore
Grace Serafin added four kills in the defeat.
The Lions started strong by taking a 3-1 lead early in the first set, and would work their lead up to 8-5 following an ace from junior
Kaitlyn Chell. Albright answered a pair of Dutchmen points with a pair of their own, and went up 12-10 after a kill from Westra. However, Lebanon Valley won 15 of the next 17 points to take the first set at 25-14. The Dutchmen continued momentum in the second set as they raced out to a 6-3 lead. Albright battled back to get within one point at 8-7 following a kill from Westra, and again at 9-8. Unfortunately for the Lions, the Dutchmen reeled off eight-straight points to take command of the set at 17-8. Albright battled back by taking five of the next seven points to cut the Dutchmen lead down to 19-13, but that would be as close as they would get. Lebanon Valley took the second set at 25-16.
Albright got off to a hot start in the third set as they went up 4-0. The Dutchmen again began to crawl back into the set as they got within one point at 7-6, but the Lions responded with three-straight points to go up 10-6. Following a pair of Dutchmen points, the Lions responded with back-to-back kills from Serafin and Andrefski. Lebanon Valley would take seven of the next nine points, and grab a lead for the first time in the set at 15-14. The Lions battled back again to tie the score at 17, but the Dutchmen took control of the third set by taking six of the next seven points to go up 23-18. Albright got within three points at 24-21 before Lebanon Valley close the game out with a kill.
Reilly Shelly led the Dutchmen with a game-high 11 kills, while Jayna Class posted 10 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Emily Bartlett paced the Dutchmen with 32 assists,

th when they will host Penn State Berks at 6 p.m.
