Serpico’s Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer over PSU Harrisburg

READING, Pa. – A free kick by sophomore Autumn Bieber was redirected by first-year Emily Serpico to lift the Albright women's soccer team to a 1-0 win in the first game of the ECAC quarterfinals on Saturday evening.

Albright, led by head coach Pat Stanco, improves to 13-8 on the season and Penn State Harrisburg falls to 11-11-1.

The Lions controlled the game with nine shots in each half and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.  Junior Amanda Fulcher paced Albright with six shots and all six on target.  Senior Jillian Lapidus added four shots while Serpico, Bieber, and sophomore Carleigh Molinaro each registered two.  Albright's defense shut PSU Harrisburg down and the Nittany Lions were not able to get a shot off within the 90 minutes of play.

Albright sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Donkus earned the shutout and her 10th win in the net.  Sophomore Hannah Williams tallied eight saves total, three in the first half and five in the second, for PSU Harrisburg.

The Albright women's soccer team will return to Shirk Stadium tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 17, for a 12 p.m. game against William Paterson.  The winner will advance to ECAC semifinals next weekend.
