Women’s Basketball Secures 86-47 Win at Penn State Berks

READING, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team continue their winning streak after traveling across town on Thursday evening to secure an 86-47 win at Penn State Berks.

Albright improves to 5-0 on the season and Penn State Berks falls to 2-4.

Sophomore Dejah Terrell posted a double-double after leading the Lions with 18 points and 12 rebounds.  Classmates Amina Rauf, Gabby Boggs, Brady Wassel, and Maggie O'Hare each hit double-digits in scoring in the win and Boggs pulled down seven rebounds to lead the bunch.  With four assists, senior Hailey Dayton added seven points while sophomore Abby Gaffney added nine points, three assists and three rebounds.  First-year Amy Jones notched her first career points after making two free-throws in the fourth quarter.

Albright started the game on a 7-0 run, but Penn State Berks battled back to end the first quarter down by three points.  At the beginning of the second quarter, Berks took the lead, 18-17, after a layup from sophomore Nicole Kopcik.  A layup followed by a three-pointer from Gaffney sparked a 22-6 run with five minutes remaining in the half.

The Lions continued this surge in the second half, as the team scored 32 points in the third quarter alone to earn the 86-47 win. 

Junior Katie Armstrong paced Penn State Berks with 17 points and classmate Abbie Carr pulled down 11 rebounds.

Albright went 37-of-72 (51%) from the floor, 8-of-24 (33%) from beyond the arc, and 4-of-6 (66%) from the line.  Penn State Berks shot 30% (12-of-31) from the floor, 25% (1-of-6) from beyond the arc, and 80% (2-of-3) from the free-throw line.

The Lions will travel to The City College of New York on Saturday, Nov. 23 for a 2 p.m. game.
