COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Junior
Kelly Baumann tallied the 100
th goal of her Albright career as the Lions women's lacrosse team held on to defeat Ursinus 13-10 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the win, the Lions improve to 1-1 as they bounced back from Thursday's opening day loss to Misericordia. Meanwhile, the Bears fall to 0-2 overall.

Ashleigh Tortorice. Ursinus worked their way back with back-to-back goals to tie the score at two at the 22:42-mark before Baumann put the Lions in front again just 37 seconds later. Albright continued to dominate in the first half as they continued their run with four more goals to take a 7-2 lead at the 15:30-mark. Baumann found freshman
Lauren China in front of the cage to make it 4-2, and freshman
Abbie Moist extended the lead with her first collegiate goal to make it 5-2. Baumann had helpers again on the next two Lions goals with China tallying her second goal of the half before Bass added her second to complete the run. Following an Ursinus free position shot goal, Baumann put the Lions up 8-3 into halftime on a goal with 1:38 left.
Baumann opened the scoring for the Lions in the second half as she scored unassisted at the 28:35-mark to make it a 9-3 contest. The Bears began to rally with back-to-back goals in a span of 1:21 to make it a 9-5 game at the 24:59-mark. Tortorice struck for her first goal to end the run at the 21:18-mark, but the Bears again posted back-to-back goals to cut the lead down to 10-7. Bass found Baumann for her 100
th career goal at the 15:19-mark, and freshman
Maddie Taylor extended the lead to 12-7 at the 10:49-mark on a free position shot goal. However, the Bears made things interesting as they scored just 12 seconds after the goal to start a three-goal run to make it 12-10 with 7:43 left. Moist then finished the scoring with her second goal of the game with 2:48 remaining to seal the win.
The Lions held a 32-27 shot advantage for the game after out-shooting the Bears 18-8 in the first half. Albright also held a 27-21 advantage in shots on goal and a 15-10 advantage in draw controls. Ursinus held a slight 16-11 edge in ground balls, and 10-4 advantage in free position opportunities. Baumann led the way for the Lions with eight points behind four goals and four assists, while Bass added five behind two goals and three assists. China and Moist also posted two goals in the win. Terae Mason made 11 saves in the full 60 minutes to earn the win, while Bears goalkeeper Kaitlyn France suffered the loss despite making 14 saves in the full 60 minutes.
Albright will return to action on Wednesday, February 27
th as they will host Washington College (Md.) for their home opener at 7 p.m.
