AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Albright Lions baseball team (3-8) fell to the Ramapo Roadrunners (4-3) by a score of 6-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday morning at Lake Myrtle Field in Auburndale.
The Lions had a chance to get on the board in the home half of the first with runners at the corners and one away, but Ramapo starter Tyler Lombardo was able to get a caught stealing and a
Logan Adams groundout to wiggle his way out of the jam.
Ramapo started the second inning with consecutive singles before Jake Gursaly plated a run with an RBI groundout and Matt Carovillano delivered an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game. Trailing 2-0, Albright had runners at second and third with two outs in the fourth, but Lombardo fanned
Austin Roth to end the inning. The Roadrunners broke the game open in the middle innings including a two-run double from Nick Camilleri as part of a three-run sixth inning that stretched the lead to 6-0.
Sophomore
Ryan Kalinich (0-1) made his first start of the season for the Lions and was dealt the loss after giving up three runs on six hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts in 4 1/3 IP. Lombardo (1-0) fanned five and gave up two hits over seven scoreless frames for the Roadrunners.
Juniors
Brandon Daubert and
Jimmie Gentry along with senior
Jeff Yordy collected hits in the contest for the Lions, while Yordy (1.0 IP) and senior
Daron Pijanowski (1.0 IP, 3 K) combined to toss a pair of scoreless innings in relief.
Albright returns to action on Friday, March 22 with a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader against Stevenson at Lake Myrtle Field. First pitch of game one is set for 9:45 a.m.
