Kimmel, Shevlin Lift Baseball Over LVC

READING, Pa. – Senior Jack Shevlin delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the fourth and freshman Willie Kimmel III allowed just an unearned run over six innings as the Albright Lions baseball team (5-10, 2-4 MACC) topped Lebanon Valley (9-8, 2-4 MACC) in MAC Commonwealth action on Monday afternoon at Kelchner Field.

Shevlin came up with the bases loaded and two outs in the home half of the fourth and poked a two-run single through the left side to give the Lions a 3-1 edge. Senior Joe Suppa had started the inning with a double, advanced to third on Logan Adams' infield single and scored on a throwing error charged to Dutchmen 2B Chris DeClerico to tie the game at one apiece. Freshman Jeremy Brubaker followed Adams with a single of his own and Josh Jacavage drew a walk to set the stage for Shevlin.

Kimmel III (1-1) gave up just the one unearned run on four hits while walking one and fanning five over a season-high six innings of work. LHP Will Tokarski (1.0 IP, H, K), LHP Daron Pijanowski (1.0 IP, BB) and RHP Logan Adams (1.0 IP, K) combined to close things out for Albright as Adams notched his third save of the year.

Jake Williams (1-1) was dealt the loss for LVC after allowing three runs on five hits to go along with a walk and four strikeouts in 4.0 IP.

The Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when T.J. Holdredge singled to right, advanced to second and third on a pair of groundouts and scored on an error charged to Brubaker at third.

Shevlin (2-3, 2 RBI) had a multi-hit game for the Lions, while Adams, Brubaker and Suppa all added a hit and a run scored.

Albright hosts Arcadia in the opener of a three-game set on Friday afternoon at Kelchner Field. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
