Baseball Drops Pair to Arcadia

AMBLER, Pa. – The Albright Lions baseball team (5-13, 2-7 MACC) dropped a pair of games to the Arcadia Knights (14-6, 8-1 MACC) in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon at Skip Wilson Field in Ambler.

Arcadia won game one by a score of 27-4 and picked up an 8-3 victory in game two.

Game One
Arcadia jumped out to an early lead and led 8-0 after two innings as Sean Carew hit a two-run homer and delivered an RBI single, while Dylan Towey plated a run via a two-run double.

Junior Shaun O'Reilly (0-2) allowed eight runs (six hits) on 10 hits and was dealt the loss for the Lions. Tyler Showers (2-3) got the win for the Knights after giving up four runs on seven hits to go along with a walk and seven strikeouts in five innings of work.

Albright got four runs back in the top of the fifth as Brandon Daubert hit a solo home run, Jimmie Gentry knocked in a run via an RBI double and Logan Adams followed with a two-run single.

Gentry (2-4, 2B, RBI, R) had a multi-hit game for the Lions and has hit safely in eight of his last nine contests.

Game Two
Towey's RBI double in the bottom of the first gave the Knights a 1-0 lead. That score would hold until the home half of the fifth as a four-run frame including an RBI double from Bryan Gillen extended the lead to 5-0.

Junior Nick Dinnocenti (0-4) was dealt the loss for Albright after allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits to go along with two walks and a strikeout in four innings of work. Joel Bartoni (5-0) gave up three runs on four hits while walking four and fanning eight in a complete game effort to record the win for Arcadia.

The Lions battled back and cut the lead to 5-3 in the sixth as Gentry singled and senior Jeff Yordy drew a walk and freshman Josh Jacavage came through two batters later with a three-run blast.

Daubert, Gentry, Jacavage and junior Jakob Fry recorded hits in the contest for head coach Jeff Feiler's squad.

Albright returns home to host Moravian in non-conference action on Tuesday, April 2 at 4 p.m.
