READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions softball team (8-8, 2-0 MACC) opened MAC Commonwealth play with a doubleheader sweep of the Hood Blazers (4-16, 0-6 MACC) on Saturday afternoon at Albright Softball Field.

Albright captured game one by a score of 6-1 and took home a 9-1 decision in the nightcap.

Game One
The Lions jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the home half of the first as Jordan Chell and Camille Sears reached with consecutive two-out singles to set the stage for a two-run double off the bat of Stephanie Pomante.

Freshman Allison Melahn earned the win for the Lions after allowing just one run on three hits to go along with three walks and seven strikeouts in a complete game effort.

Hood got a run back in the top of the third as Jordan Specht delivered an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.
