READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions baseball team (10-19, 5-11 MACC) dropped the series opener to the Hood Blazers (21-9-1, 12-4 MACC) by a score of 14-4 on Thursday afternoon at Kelchner Field in Reading.
Hood grabbed an early lead with five runs in the first as Jordan Patterson knocked in a pair with a two-run double and Andrew Wenner and Joe Kroeger both added RBI doubles of their own in the inning.
The Lions put together a rally and cut the lead to 6-3 in the third as junior
Logan Pennypacker reached with a two-out double and scored on
Jimmie Gentry's RBI double before
Logan Adams knocked in a pair with a two-run double.

Will Tokarski (2-5) was dealt the loss for Albright after allowing six runs on five hits while walking three and fanning three in three innings of work. Nate Luscombe (4-1) surrendered four runs on 10 hits to go along with a walk and four strikeouts in 6.0 IP and recorded the win for the Blazers.
Gentry led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on Adams' RBI double to bring the Lions within a pair at 6-4. Hood added solo runs in each of the next two frames including a solo shot from Brady Ward in the top of the seventh and broke the game open with six runs in the eighth as Patterson plated a pair via a two-run double.
Head coach Jeff Feiler's squad had 15 hits in the game and five different players recorded multi-hit games: Adams (4-5, 2B, 3 RBI), Gentry (3-5, 2 2B, RBI, 2 R), freshman
Josh Jacavage (2-4, 2B), Pennypacker (2-5, 2B, R) and freshman
Nick Sklenarik (2-4). The four hits for Adams represented a career-high.
Seniors
Daron Pijanowski (0.1 IP, BB) and
Phil Staehle (1.1 IP, 3 H) both had scoreless outings in relief for the Lions.
The two teams will close out the series on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader in Frederick. First pitch of game one is set for 12 p.m.
