READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a strong offensive onslaught from Arcadia as the Knights won 23-9 on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth play at Shirk Stadium.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 1-12 overall on the season and 1-6 in MAC Commonwealth play. Prior to the contest, Albright honored its three senior players. Meanwhile, the Knights keep their MAC Commonwealth Tournament hopes alive as they improve to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Knights started fast as they took an early 2-0 lead at the 12:51-mark of the first quarter. Arcadia continued to dominate play early as they scored five more unanswered goals to take a 7-0 lead at the 5:17-mark. Arcadia used strong play in the faceoff circle to continue generating chances on offense to get out to the lead. Freshman
Cole Genneken ended the run at the 4:27-mark with the Lions first goal of the game, but the Knights came right back following another faceoff win to go back up 8-1. Albright generated some momentum with back-to-back goals within 1:24 of each other to make it an 8-3 game at the 1:05-mark. Freshman

Ethan Gain scored with a shot that went between the Knights goalkeepers legs. Arcadia then capped the quarter with one more goal at the 23-second mark. Arcadia opened the scoring in the second quarter with a goal at the 13:41-mark before the Lions tallied back-to-back goals again to bring the deficit down to 10-5. McKendry tallied his second goal of the game after grabbing the rebound off a saved shot from sophomore
Carson Babcock, and Gain blasted his second goal of the game at the 11:53-mark. Unfortunately for the Lions, that would be as close as they would get for the rest of the game as the Knights closed the first half out with six unanswered goals to go up 16-5 at halftime.
The second half opened with no scoring for the first 8:41 before the Knights scored to go up 17-5 at the 6:19-mark. Arcadia then scored two more goals to take a 19-5 lead at the 4:20-mark of the third quarter before McKendry snapped the nine-goal run with his third of the game at the 3:40-mark. The Knights would add one more goal with four seconds left in the third quarter. Albright started the fourth quarter strong as they opened with back-to-back goals to make it a 20-8 deficit. Genneken scored the first one before McKendry scored again at the 13:00-mark. Goetz then scored his first of the game following a Knights goal to make it a 21-9 game before Arcadia ended the game with two more goals.
Arcadia held a 62-34 shot advantage for the game, and a 37-17 advantage in shots on net. The Knights also held a sizable 53-25 advantage in ground balls, and won 28 of the 34 faceoffs. McKendry continued his strong play from the Alvernia game as he led the Lions with four goals. Goetz and Genneken each posted three points, while Gain added two goals. Senior goalkeeper
Conor Scafidi suffered the loss after making 14 saves in the full 60 minutes. Knights goalkeeper Brendan Kuzminski earned the win after making seven saves in 56:18.
The Lions will conclude their season on Saturday, April 27
th as they will travel to face Lebanon Valley at 1 p.m.
