Wynton Britton's game-winning goal in the 98
th minute lifted the Albright men's soccer team to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Berkeley (N.J.) Knights on Tuesday evening at Shirk Stadium.
The Lions improve to 3-4 and hand the Knights their first loss on the season, falling to a 4-1-1 record.
The first half of the battle remained even and scoreless after 45 minutes, with Berkeley having a slight edge in shots, 5-4. Albright led 4-1 in corner kicks and senior goalkeeper
Billy Mullen made two saves for the Lions.
Just over 15 minutes into the second half, a mishandled ball in the box by Berkeley let sophomore
Alexander MacDonald wide open to tap the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead and his first goal of the season. In the 74
th minute, Berkeley responded with two goals within 21 seconds on identical plays. The first was brought down the right side of the field by Marcos Hidalgo and cut back to Robins Etienne, who knocked it into the left bottom corner to tie the game 1-1. Berkeley's second goal was brought down the right wing by Etienne who cut it back for Hidalgo, netting the ball for the lead, 2-1.
With two minutes left in regulation, Albright earned a corner kick and Coach
Pat Stanco called all players up on the attack, including Mullen. The Lions' goalkeeper got his head on the ball, directing it towards the net, and
Alex Lahey headed the ball in for the tie, 2-2. This goal marks the first career goal for Lahey and Mullen's first career assist. The Lions and the Knights headed into the first overtime period.
Although the Knights were the first to get a shot off in overtime, Albright pressed forward and netted their sole shot of the extra time. In the 98
th minute,

Jake Kucowski, also his first career point.
Albright held a 14-12 advantage in shots with a 10-4 margin in shots on goal, causing Berkeley goalkeeper Robert Parker to make seven saves on the night. Albright's MacDonald led the team in shots with five, three of them being on goal. Etienne led the way for the Knights with three shots. In addition to his assist, Mullen had two saves for the Lions and faced 12 shots total.
Albright men's soccer will head to Marywood University on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.
