SCRANTON, Pa. – A second-half rally led by junior
Wynton Britton's goal and senior
Eric Adamo's game-winner earned a 2-1 road win for the Albright men's soccer team against the Marywood University Pacers on Saturday afternoon.
The victory is the first against Marywood in matchup history and the third-straight Albright win – the longest streak since the 2013 season. Albright's record improves to 4-4 and Marywood falls to 2-6.
In the first half of the game, the Pacers got on the board just 16 minutes in following a penalty kick. Senior goalkeeper
Billy Mullen saved the initial shot, however, Marywood senior Carlos Perez collected the rebound for a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Britton scored his second career and season goal in the 55
th minute after receiving a through ball from sophomore
Yaniv Gonyoe, tying the game at one apiece.
In the 67
th minute, Adamo launched a shot from 25 yards out, as the ball hit the post then the inside net to win the game for the Lions, 2-1.
The Pacers held a 22-16 advantage in shots and an 11-8 margin in shots on goal. Gonyoe, Adamo, and sophomore
Alexander MacDonald paced the Lions in shots, each having three. Four shots from sophomore Richard Fuchs led Marywood.
Mullen had 10 saves on the day, his second-highest number of saves this season, and earned his fourth win. Pacers' senior goalkeeper Mike Gallagher made six saves, three in each half.
Albright men's soccer looks to lengthen the winning streak as they host Mount Aloysius on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
