Olivia Donkus lifted the Albright women's soccer team over FDU-Florham on Wednesday afternoon at Shirk Stadium.
The victory will improve the Lions' record to 6-3 and the Devils take their first loss of the season, falling to 8-1-1.
The first shot of the game came eight minutes into the contest from FDU-Florham, as possession remained in the middle third of the field. Haley got the Lions on the board in the 29
th minute, beating a defender and netting a near-post goal off a perfectly placed ball over the top from junior
Amanda Fulcher. Albright led 1-0 at the half, but trailed FDU-Florham in shots 13-4.
In the 56
th minute of the game, Haley drew a foul in the Devil's box for a penalty kick. Sophomore
Diza Hasanaj was able to convert for a 2-0 Lions' lead.
FDU-Florham got on the board in the 80
th minute with a goal from junior Tatiana Nieto off a free kick outside of the box, making the score 2-1.
In the last 15 minutes of regulation, junior defender
Maggie Jones added a shot off a corner kick and later sophomore
Caitlin Costigliola recovered to the other end of the field to block a shot, keeping the Lions ahead and sealing the win.
FDU-Florham held a solid 26-6 advantage in shots and a 13-4 edge in shots on goal. Hasanaj led the Lions with two shots on goal, while Devils' Nieto registered eight shots and five on goal.
Donkus made eleven saves on the day, facing 26 shots from the Devils and earning her fifth win. FDU-Florham's junior goalkeeper Ashley Paulino made two saves to keep the Devils in the game.
Albright women's soccer will host Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.
