New Jersey City Rallies Past Men’s Soccer

READING, Pa. – A second half hat trick by New Jersey City's Joe Burgos proved costly as the Albright men's soccer team lost 4-1 to the Gothic Knights on Tuesday evening at Shirk Stadium.

Just 16 minutes into the first half, a strike by senior Connor Morgan rebounded to find sophomore Billy Hanratty in front of NJCU's net, putting the Lions up 1-0.  The goal was the first for Hanratty this season and the first against the Gothic Knights this season to date.

New Jersey City's freshman Joao Fernandes tied the game at one apiece in the 29th minute after he buried a cross from sophomore Orlando Alcantara.  Burgos added two goals and with 10 seconds left the senior scored his third of the game, earning a hat trick that guided the Gothic Knights to a victory over the Lions.

New Jersey City tallied 15 shots with six on goal, while Albright had five shots and two on goal.  Lions' goalkeeper Billy Mullen made two saves and junior goalkeeper Aldahir Cazun earned the win, making one save for the Gothic Knights.

The Lions will host the Mighty Macs of Immaculata on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
