READING, Pa. – Junior
Bryce Schaffer broke two butterfly pool records as the Albright men's swimming team defeated Elizabethtown 160.5-94.5 at home on Saturday afternoon. The meet also took time to recognize the 11 seniors on the men's team.
Schaffer clocked a 1:51.80 to break his own pool record in the 200 butterfly of 1:55.68 from Jan. 13, 2018. His new 200 butterfly time sits at the top of the Middle Atlantic Conference currently by almost four seconds. The junior hopped in for the 100 butterfly and broke the pool record once again with a time of 51.00. Eric Sweeney previously held the pool record in the 100 butterfly of 52.20, which was swam on Jan. 18, 2018. Schaffer's 100 butterfly time continues to rank second in the MAC.
The 200 medley relay of Joe Guiliano,
Drew MacDonald,
Jabril Thompson, and
Maliq Williams kicked off the meet with an Albright victory in 1:41.68.
Will Griffith,
Chris Laite, and
Teag Culver each earned two individual victories.
Will Griffith won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:20.09 and the 100 freestyle in 49.84. Winning the 50 freestyle in 22.39, Laite turned around to win the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:02.79. Culver picked up victories in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, clocking a 1:47.11 and 4:50.33 respectively.
Corey Hausler finished first to the wall in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.42 and Nick Dolan was right behind him with a 1:07.86. The 200 breaststroke was won by
Drew MacDonald in 2:29.14.
Albright men's swimming will travel to Messiah on Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 1 p.m. meet.
