Women’s Hoops Surges Past Lebanon Valley, 76-51

READING, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team bounced back with a 76-51 victory at home over Lebanon Valley in MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon at the Bollman Center.
 
With the win, Albright improves to 19-2 overall and 10-2 in the MAC Commonwealth while Lebanon Valley falls to 7-14 on the season and 2-10 in conference play.
 
Five Albright sophomores tapped into double-digit scoring in the victory, led by Dejah Terrell with 19 points.  Amina Rauf tallied 13 points by shooting 5-of-9 from the field, 2-of-2 from three, and 1-of-1 at the line.  Maggie O'Hare scored 11 points for the Lions, while Gabby Boggs and Abby Gaffney registered 10 points apiece.  Boggs recorded seven steals in the game, the most by an Albright women's player since Jane Joyce also posted seven in 2018 against Lycoming.  Pacing the MAC Commonwealth with a 1.9 assists to turnover ratio, Gaffney had four assists on the night.
 
In the opening seconds of the game, Terrell started the scoring off with a good jumper in the paint for the Lions.  Lebanon Valley responded a minute later for a 2-2 tie at the 8:29-mark.  Another jumper by senior Hailey Dayton put Albright up again until the Dutchmen tied it at four apiece at the 4:25-mark.  Lebanon Valley was up by as much as five points with two minutes remaining in the first quarter, but Albright ended the period on a 9-3 run for the 13-11 lead going into the second.
 
Albright pulled away in the second quarter by scoring 20 points to Lebanon Valley's 11.  Gaffney started the scoring out with a good layup at the 9-:21-mark and sophomore Kayana Chisholm scored four points off two back-to-back steals by Boggs.  Albright held an 11-point lead going into the locker rooms, 33-22.
 
In the third quarter, the first good basket came from Lebanon Valley at the 7:47-mark.  The Dutchmen closed the deficit to seven, but Albright again pulled away for 52-38 going into the fourth.  O'Hare scored eight of her 11 points in the quarter and Dayton added a three.
 
The Lions outscored the Dutchmen 24-13 in the final quarter for an end score of 76-51.  Terrell scored nine points in the fourth quarter and Boggs added six points, two steals, and one assist in the closing 10 minutes.
 
Both the Lions and the Dutchmen shot 43 percent from the field, with Albright going 30-of-69 and Lebanon Valley shooting 19-of-44.  The Lions went 4-of-17 from beyond the arc and 12-of-15 on free throws.  The Dutchmen shot 7-of-19 from three and 6-of-9 from the line.  Albright scored 38 points off 31 Lebanon Valley turnovers.
 
Emily Mealey paced the Dutchmen's scoring with 20 points behind going 8-of-13 from the floor, 2-of-4 from three and 20-f-2 from the line.  She also pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double and added two blocks.  Morgan Bamberger tallied 15 points on the day and Daelyn Stabler recorded eight points for Lebanon Valley.
 
Albright women's basketball will travel to Widener on Wednesday, Feb. 12 for an 8 p.m. conference tip-off.
