WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's tennis concluded their fall portion of its 2021-22 season with a 7-2 setback to Lycoming in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Lions wrap up the fall with a 3-1 record and will now set their sights on MAC Commonwealth play in the spring. Meanwhile, the Warriors improve to 3-4 overall in their final match of the fall season as well.
Lycoming took two of the three doubles matches to go ahead early at 2-1. At the first doubles spot, the Albright duo of first-year
Alex Pancu and junior
Shelby Woodard defeated Hannah Seebold and Madison Helle by a score of 8-2. Junior
Libby Harford and senior
Lauren China were defeated in the No. 2 doubles spot by Emily Wolfgang and Rei Saar by a score of 8-2, while the duo of sophomore
Macie Littleton and senior
Marisa Cocca fell 7-8 (4-7) at the No. 3 doubles spot to Haley Seebold and Addison Angstadt.
In singles, Pancu earned the win in the No. 1 spot as she took down Hannah Seebold 6-0, 6-0. Harford fell to Heller 1-6, 2-6 in the No. 2 spot, while Woodard was defeated by Wolfgang 5-7, 3-6 in the No. 3 spot. Senior
Maddie Taylor suffered a 0-6, 0-6 setback to Haley Seebold in the No. 4 spot before China fell 2-6, 2-6 at the No. 5 spot to Saar. Cocca was defeated by Emily Engelhardt 7-5, 3-6 (8-10) at the No. 6 spot to end the match.
