GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's tennis team earned a convincing 8-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy in non-conference dual meet action on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, the Lions improve to 2-0 overall as they continue to move through their fall non-conference slate. Meanwhile the Griffins fall 0-2 overall on the season.  
 
Albright captured all three of the doubles points to take an early 3-0 lead for the second-straight match. At the first doubles spot, the Lions duo of first-year Alex Pancu and junior Shelby Woodard defeated Gwynedd Mercy's Casey Meenan and Moira Ryan, 8-0. Junior Libby Harford and senior Lauren China earned an 8-6 win over Rachel Kressler and Madison Corduso in No. 2 doubles action. Senior Marisa Cocca and sophomore Macie Littleton completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win over Tarria Brown and Nicole Rival the number three spot.
 
Pancu opened the Lions singles matches up with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the number one spot over Meenan. Harford defeated Ryan 6-4, 4-3 (7-4) at the number two spot, while Woodard took down Kressler 6-1, 6-1 in the three spot. China was defeated by Corduso in the number four spot by scores of 6-4, 4-6 (10-2), and Cocca swept Brown 6-0, 6-0 in the five spot. Littleton closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Rival in the No. 6 spot.
 
Albright is back in action on Thursday, October 7^th as they will host Penn State Abington at 3 p.m.
