Field Hockey Defeated by No. 13 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – The Albright Lions field hockey team was defeated 8-0 by #13 TCNJ on a rainy Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
 
With the loss, the Lions fall to 5-10 overall on the season Meanwhile, TCNJ of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) improves to 10-4 overall.
 
TCNJ jumped on the Albright early as they scored two goals within in a 6:32 span of the first quarter. TCNJ added a third goal with 1:28 left in the first quarter following a penalty corner. TCNJ continued to control play into the second quarter and added two more goals in the first 2:05 to take a 5-0 lead. TCNJ scored one last goal in the second quarter, and took a 6-0 lead into halftime. Albright recorded its first shot in the 35th minute after first-year Olivia Lorah had it blocked. The Lions held a 4-1 edge in penalty corners in the second half, but only had one more shot registered in the contest from first-year Chelsea Johnson which was blocked. TCNJ added two goals in the fourth quarter to conclude the game.
 
TCNJ held sizable advantages in shots at 17-2, and a slight edge in penalty corners at 6-4. A pair of Lion goalkeepers saw action as sophomore Veronica Heckman suffered the loss after starting the game and played 24:01 in the cage and made six saves. Junior Adele Thomas relieved Heckman and made two saves in the final 35:59 minutes of action. Dani Britton earned the win for TCNJ after starting in the cage and playing the entire first half. Saige Berkowicz finished the game for TCNJ.  Sophia Foschini paced TCNJ with three goals.
 
Albright will return to action on Thursday, October 28th as they will close their 2021 season against Stockton at 7 p.m.
