FREDERICK, Md. – The Albright men's soccer team dropped a MAC Commonwealth contest Saturday afternoon as they were defeated 4-2 at Hood.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-3 in conference play and 3-8-1 overall. Meanwhile, Hood earns their first conference victory as they advance to 1-2 in MAC Commonwealth play and 8-4-1 overall.
It was a defensive battle in the first half as Hood held a slight 6-4 shot advantage over Albright. The Blazers fired off back-to-back shots on goal in the opening minutes of the contest, to which first-year goalkeeper
Chris Denholm put a halt too. Senior
Christian Aurand got the first opportunity on net for Albright in the 32
nd minute that was stopped by Blazers goalkeeper Danny Castillo. Hood finally broke through in the 41
st minute as they lifted the ball past Denholm and held onto the 1-0 lead entering the half.
The Blazers came out and fired off the first three shots of the second half. Aurand finally found the back of the net to tie the game at one in the 67
th minute off a corner sent in from senior
Brendan Hanratty. Hood didn't hang their heads as they responded with a goal in the 71
st minute to take the 2-1 lead. The Blazers added two more in the 77
th and 86
th minutes to bring their lead to 4-1. Senior

John Villano right in front of the net as fired the ball off past the goalkeeper in the final minute of the game, bringing their deficit to 4-2. Despite Albright's late efforts, it would not be enough to overcome Hood as they claimed the 4-2 conference victory.
Hood held a slight 17-15 shot advantage, but connected 11 shots on goal compared to Albright's four. Sophomore goalkeeper
Hunter Stump receives the loss for Albright despite making three saves in the second 45 minutes of action. Castillo earns the win for Hood with two saves in the full 90 minutes of action.
Albright returns to the pitch Saturday as they travel to York to continue conference play at 7 p.m.
