Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls at Hood, 3-1

FREDERICK, Md. – The Albright women's soccer team failed to pick up a conference win as they suffered a 3-1 loss at Hood Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-3 in MAC Commonwealth play and 5-6-2 overall. The Blazers advance to 2-1 in conference play and 4-7-1 overall.

Hood controlled the pace early, scoring the first goal of the game in the first minute to take the 1-0 lead. Senior Autumn Bieber attempted the next three shots for Albright that were all stopped by Hood goalkeeper Brenna Ellenberger. The Blazers tallied the next two shots on goal to which first-year goalkeeper McKenna LeVan saved to keep Albright within one. Senior Stephanie Calafiore had an opportunity with a shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but Ellenberger stopped it as the Blazers held onto their 1-0 lead entering the half.

The two teams battled back and forth, tallying three shots each in the opening ten minutes of the second half. The Blazers finally tallied another goal in the 57th minute to bring their lead to 2-0. Hood kept the momentum and added another in the 62nd minute to go take a three-goal lead over Albright. The Lions finally got on the board late in the 82nd minute as Bieber laid up a perfect through pass to senior Kate Griffin who found the back of the net. The Lions late efforts would not be enough, however, as the Blazers claimed the 3-1 conference victory.

Hood held a slight 19-15 shot advantage and a 12-8 shot on goal advantage over Albright. LeVan receives the loss for the Lions despite completing eight saves in 90 minutes of action. Ellenberger earns the win for the Blazers with four saves in 45 minute of play.

Albright will take the road again on Tuesday as they continue MAC Commonwealth play at York at 7 p.m.
