READING, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team pulled out a thrilling 70-62 double overtime victory over Cabrini in their home opener at the Bollman Center on Thursday.
During halftime of the game, Albright recognized former women's basketball player Jarra Rusnock Dennis who was inducted into the Middle Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame during the height of the global pandemic. The full release can be found

With the win, Albright improves to 2-2 overall while Cabrini falls to 2-2.
Albright saw four players reach double figures on the evening. Senior
Gabby Boggs posted a double-double with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting, 14 rebounds, a career-high seven blocks, four assists, and three steals. Senior
Amina Rauf followed with 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field and 4-of-17 from beyond the arc. Senior
Brady Wassel tallied 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and 2-for-5 from the three and added seven rebounds. Senior
Abby Gaffney had a game-high five assists and tallied 11 points 5-of-7 shooting.
After Cabrini scored on the opening possession of the contest, Albright answered with six-straight points to go up 6-2. A three and a layup from the Cavaliers would allow them to take the 7-6 lead at the 6:06-mark. Back-to-back three pointers from Rauf and a bucket from senior
Maggie O'Hare put the Lions back in front 14-7. Cabrini score seven-straight points to tie the game up at 14 at the end of the first quarter. The Cavaliers pulled ahead by four to start the second, but the Lions tied it back up at 18 with baskets from Boggs and Wassel. The two teams traded leads four more times throughout the second quarter, but the Lions held onto a 31-28 lead entering the half.
Gaffney got Albright started on an 8-2 run to start the third quarter, as the Lions took their largest lead of the game at 39-30. The Cavaliers answered with a 7-2 run that was snapped by sophomore
Frances Glover-Bey at the 2:24-mark to put the Lions up 43-37. The teams battled back-and-forth but Albright stayed ahead 47-40 entering the fourth quarter. Albright struggled to find the bottom of the net in the fourth quarter as they were outscored 12-5, tying the game up at 52 to send the contest into extra frames.
Both teams were eager for a win as they traded baskets throughout the first overtime. Albright was ahead by two in the closing minute, but Cabrini sunk a pair of free throws to send the game into a second overtime session. The Lions were clutch in the final five minutes of action as they shot 4-for-4 from the field, 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and outscored the Cavaliers 12-4 to claim the 70-62 double overtime victory.
Albright shot 2-for-60 (45%) from the field, 7-for-14 (50%) from beyond the arc, and 9-for-14 from the charity stripe. The Lions won the battle on the boards 47-37, tallied 38 points in the paint, and converted 20 points off of turnovers. Meanwhile, Cabrini shot 23-for-68 (33.8%) from the floor, 4-for-21 (19%) from the three-point line, and 12-for-22 (54.5%) from the charity stripe. The Cavaliers posted 32 points in the paint and saw 21 points off the bench.
Albright returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they travel to Neumann for non-conference action.
