READING, Pa. – A late rally pushed the Albright women's basketball team past Hood with a 60-57 MAC Commonwealth win in the Bollman Center on Saturday.
The Lions pick up their third-straight win and advance to 2-1 in conference and 6-3 overall. Meanwhile, the Blazers fall to 1-2 in MAC Commonwealth play and 4-4 overall.

Amina Rauf led Albright in scoring and matched a career-high 22 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field and 6-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Senior
Brady Wassel notched a second-straight double-double with 14 points on 5-for-14 shooting and 11 boards. Senior
Maggie O'Hare also added 14 points on 4-for-15 shooting from the floor and 3-for-9 from the three-point line, six rebounds, and three blocks. Senior
Gabby Boggs posted a game-high 14 rebounds and a game-high 7 blocks.
Albright opened the game up with a 7-4 advantage as a jumper from Wassel gave Albright the three-point lead at the 7:24-mark. Hood stole back the lead scoring on their next two possessions, but Rauf sparked an 8-2 run for the Lions with back-to-back three-pointers and was capped off with a layup from Wassel to put them ahead 15-10 at the 4:16-mark. Hood closed out the quarter with a 6-4 advantage to cut their deficit to 19-16 entering the second stanza. The Blazers opened the second quarter with ten unanswered points to take a 27-19 lead. Rauf finally snapped the run with a three-pointer at the 4:13-mark to cut the Lions deficit to five. Albright closed out the half with a 6-1 run to tie the game up at 28.
Hood controlled the pace in the third quarter, opening on a 12-2 run to take their largest lead at ten-points at the 3:26-mark. The Lions rallied with seven unanswered points sparked by O'Hare and capped off with a three-pointer from junior
Lindsey Williamson to cut their deficit to 40-37 at the 1:02-mark. The Blazers were able to build their lead back up to seven with a layup and a pair of free-throws to close out the quarter with a 44-37 advantage. Hood scored the first bucket of the final stanza, but Albright responded with a 12-3 run to tie the game up at 49 with 4:20 remaining. The lead then swapped twice before Hood tied it up at 55 with a pair of free throws at the 1:14-mark. Wassel claimed the lead for the Lions for a final time with a bucket with 56 seconds remaining. The Blazers were then forced to foul the Lions who went 3-for-6 from the charity stripe to solidify their 60-57 win.
Albright shot 20-for-56 (35.7%) from the floor, 11-for-26 (42.3%) from beyond the arc, and 9-for-16 (56.3%) from the free-throw line. The Lions also held a slight 44-41 rebound advantage. Meanwhile, the Blazers shot 23-for-69 (33.3%) from the floor, 0-for-8 (0.0%) from beyond the arc, and 11-for-16 (68.8%) from the charity stripe. Hood netted 46 points in the paint and converted 24 points off Albright turnovers.
The Lions return to action for their last home game of 2021 as they host Moravian in non-conference action Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.
