READING, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team picked up a big 65-54 road victory and claimed their first MAC Commonwealth win over Alvernia on Wednesday.
With the win, the Lions improve to 1-1 in conference action and 5-3 overall. Meanwhile, the Golden Wolves fall to 0-3 in MAC Commonwealth play and 3-5 overall.

Gabby Boggs posted her eighth-straight double-double with 19 points on 6-for-16 shooting from the field and 14 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end. Boggs also tallied five blocks and four steals. Senior
Brady Wassel posted a double-double as well with a monstrous career-high 20 rebounds and 11 points on 1-for-9 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Senior
Maggie O'Hare added 18 points on 6-for-15 shooting from the floor and 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and grabbed seven boards. Senior

Abby Gaffney posted a game-high six assists.
Albright struggled to score in the first quarter as Alvernia held an 8-2 lead at the 3:32-mak. The Lions started to heat up as they went on a 9-2 run to take the lead over the Golden Wolves with 1:38 remaining in the first. Alvernia responded with back-to-back buckets, but O'Hare closed out the quarter with a three-pointer to tie the game up at 14. The Golden Wolves then posted five unanswered points to start the second quarter to go up 19-14. Rauf then sparked a 13-0 run for the Lions that was capped off by Boggs to claim a 27-19 lead at the 5:40-mark. Alvernia finally snapped the Lions run with back-to-back baskets to cut their deficit to 27-23. Albright closed out the quarter with a 7-1 run to take a 34-24 lead entering the half.
The Lions continued their momentum, opening up the second half with a 7-4 run that featured five points from O'Hare. The Golden Wolves climbed back into reach throughout the third with an 11-4 run, cutting their deficit to 45-39 at the 1:12-mark. Albright then earned two tripe to the charity stripe and went 3-for-4 to pull ahead 48-39 at the end of the third. The Lions went on an 8-4 run to start the final stanza to claim a 13-point lead with just over five minutes remaining. Albright continued to dominate, never allowing Alvernia to get within ten points and earning their largest lead of the game at 16 points with 2:05 left to play. The Golden Wolves attempted a late comeback, closing the game out with a 7-2 run, but it would not be enough to overcome the Lions who claimed the 65-54 conference victory.
Albright shot 19-for-67 (28.4%) from the field, 7-for-20 (35.0%) from beyond the arc, and 30-for-30 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. The Lions dominated 56-43 on the glass and earned 23 second chance points. Meanwhile, Alvernia shot 20-for-63 (31.7%) from the floor, 1-for-15 (6.7%) from the three-point line, and 13-for-17 (76.5%) from the charity stripe. The Golden Wolves earned 38 points in the paint and added 17 bench points.
The Lions return to the Bollman Center on Saturday as they host Hood in conference action at 1 p.m.
