Women's Lacrosse Dominates Eastern, 20-2

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals against Eastern as they cruised to a dominant 20-2 win over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth play.
 
With the win, the Lions improve to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Eagles fall to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
 
The Lions jumped on the Eagles early as they scored two goals within a span of 16 seconds to take a 2-0 lead at the 28:08-mark. Junior Taylor Filmer cashed in off an Eagles turnover in their own end for the first goal before classmate Lauren China struck for the second following a draw control win. Sophomore Chloe Fornoff added to the Lions lead at the 26:07-mark after collecting her own rebound from her initial shot on net. Fornoff extended the Lions lead to 4-0 at the 23:11-mark after causing an Eagles turnover, and China made it 5-0 just 41 seconds later on another quick strike following a draw control win. Junior Abbie Moist scored the first goal for the Lions via a free position shot at the 19:40-mark of the first half to make it 6-0. The Lions added three more goals in a span of 1:02 to go up 9-0 at the 16:24-mark. China scored the first of the three before first-year Kayte Moist tallied her first career collegiate goal. Taylor added her second of the game to cap the stretch, and junior Gabby Spracklin registered the first goal of her collegiate career to make it 10-0 at the 13:08-mark. Albright closed the first half out with two more goals to take a 12-1 lead into halftime after the Eagles tallied their first score of the game at the 8:29-mark. Abbie Moist posted her second goal of the game after creating an Eagle turnover, and Taylor recorded her third goal of the half to cap the first half scoring.
 
Albright needed just nine seconds in the second half to make it 13-1 after Taylor found Abbie Moist immediately after the draw control win. Fornoff capped her hat trick just over a minute later to extend the Lions lead to 14-1, and China followed at the 26:56-mark to make it a 15-1 game. Junior Ashleigh Tortorice got in on the scoring at the 25:06-mark of the second half with her first goal of the game to bring the score to 16-1. Taylor added to the Lions lead by completing her hat trick at the 14:00-mark, making it 17-1 before first-year Marissa Forant became the third Lion to register her first collegiate goal on the day to bring the score to 18-1. The Lions capped off the successful day with two goals in the final two minutes on goals from a pair of first-years, Brianna Kung and Katelyn Patrick.
 
The Lions held a sizable 37-16 shot advantage for the game and a 30-8 edge in shots on goal. Albright also held advantages in ground balls at 19-14, and draw controls at 16-7. Senior goalkeeper Terae Mason earned the win after making six saves in the full 60 minutes of action, and Eagles goalkeeper Libby Daniskas suffered the loss after making nine saves in 44:38 minutes of action. China led the Lions in goals with four, while Abbie Moist and Taylor each recorded five points on three goals and two assists each. Fornoff finished with four points on three goals plus one assist, and four Lions (Kayte Moist, Spracklin, Forant, and Kung) registered their first collegiate goals.
 
Albright will return to action on Wednesday, March 24th as they will travel to face Lebanon Valley at 7 p.m.
