ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Albright softball team was swept in a doubleheader against Eastern on Sunday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Play. The Lions dropped game one 12-0 in five innings before suffering a 22-0 loss in game two after two and a third innings of play.
The losses drop the Lions to 0-4 overall and in MAC Commonwealth play, while the Eagles improve to 4-3 overall and in MAC Commonwealth play.
GAME ONE
Each team was retired in order in the first inning before the Eagles ripped off six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second to go up 6-0. Eastern led the inning off with a double and grabbed its first run off a throwing error one batter later. The Eagles added the next five runs with two outs off of three hits. Albright had its first base runner of the game in the top of the third when senior outfielder
Brooke Franklin reached on an error by the Eagle third baseman. Eastern used back-to-back strikeouts to end the frame, and extended its lead to 12-0 with six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third. Needing four runs to keep the game going in the top of the fifth, the Lions put two runners on off an error and a walk. Eagle pitcher Lexi Evelyn ended the threat in the next at-bat with a groundout to complete a no-hitter.
GAME TWO
Eastern busted the game wide open with in the bottom of the first inning with 10 runs on six hits. The Eagles grabbed four of its first five runs off wild pitches before getting two more runs off a double. Eastern continued with its momentum in the bottom of the second by scoring 12 runs eight hits to go up 22-0. Following the top of the third, the game was called after two and a half innings in the interest of protecting the health of the Albright pitchers.

The Lions will return to action on Saturday, March 27
th as they will host Hood for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
