OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Albright Lions women's basketball team was unable to overcome shooting struggles in the first three quarters as they suffered a 65-53 loss to the Mustangs on Friday night in MAC Commonwealth play.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Mustangs improve to 3-5 overall and in conference play.

Gabby Boggs came up just short of a double-double with a team-high 13 points and nine rebounds along with two blocks. Classmate
Brady Wassel matched Boggs with 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while
Maggie O'Hare posted nine points, three rebounds, and two steals.
Stevenson opened the game by taking a 6-2 lead before the Lions rattled off eight-straight points to take a 10-8 advantage at the 5:25-mark of the first quarter. The Mustangs countered with a 15-2 to close out the first quarter and took a 23-12 lead. Albright went scoreless for the final 4:56 of the first quarter and had eight turnovers during that stretch. Stevenson continued the run with back-to-back layups to go up 27-12 at the 8:40-mark of the first quarter. Albright closed within 11 points at 27-16 following back-to-back layups from Boggs and Wassel, but the Mustangs quickly ended the threat with six-straight points to take a 33-16 lead at the 5:15-mark. The Lions would get no closer than 13 points for the rest of the second quarter as Stevenson held a 36-22 lead at halftime.
The Lions scored the first point of the second half before the Mustangs went on a 14-3 run over the span of 6:10 to take a 50-25 lead at the 2:42-mark. Albright made just one field goal during the entire third quarter as they were outscored by the Mustangs, 16-5. Stevenson took its largest lead of the game at 56-29 with at the 8:27-mark before the Lions used a 12-2 run to pull within 17 points at 58-41 with 4:28 left in regulation. Albright tallied its best scoring quarter of the game in the 4
th despite the loss as they closed the game out on a 12-4.
Albright went 20-of-61 (32.8%) from the field and just 4-of-13 (30.8%) from beyond the arc. The Lions went a near perfect 9-of-10 (90%) from the free throw line Meanwhile, the Mustangs shot 38.6 percent (27-of-70) from the field and just 1-of-16 (6.3%) from beyond the arc. Stevenson went 10-of-13 (76.9%) from the free throw line and held a slight 44-40 rebounding advantage. The Mustangs also scored 18 points off 19 Lion turnovers.
Olivia Coleman led all scorers on the floor with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, and grabbed eight rebounds. Brandi Hall added 14 points and six rebounds while Denia Campbell posted 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field.
The Lions will return to action on Thursday, March 11
th as they will host crosstown rival Alvernia at 7 p.m. for senior day.
