YORK, Pa. – The Albright men's lacrosse team was defeated 17-3 by #4 York to close out MAC Commonwealth regular season play Saturday afternoon.
With the loss the Lions fall to 2-8 overall and 1-5 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Spartans advance to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
The Spartans came out of the gates firing away, scoring five unanswered goals in the first quarter of the game and kept the Lions scoreless. York continued the momentum in the second stanza, scoring another five unanswered goals and keeping Albright off the board to hold a 10-0 lead at the half.
York opened the second half with back-to-back goals to bring their lead to 12-0 at the 12:14-mark. Junior
Cole Genneken finally got the Lions on the board with a goal at the 7:16-mark of the third quarter. The Spartans responded with a goal less than a minute later to bring their lead to 13-1. Junior

Harrison Bodwell to cut the Lions' deficit to 13-2 to close out the third quarter. York fired off back-to-back goals to start the fourth quarter and bring their lead to 15-2. Junior
Eric Broadway registered an unassisted goal at the 9:59-mark. Unfortunately, that would be the last goal for the Lions as York closed out the game with back-to-back goals to claim the 17-3 lead.
York held a sizable 55-22 shot advantage over Albright and won the battle for ground balls 40-25. The Spartans also won faceoffs 18-6. Sophomore goalkeeper receives the loss of the Lions despite completing a career-high 23 saves in 60 minutes of play. Junior goalkeeper Jack Michael receives the win for the Spartans, making six saves in 30 minutes of play. Genneken, Broadway, Bodwell, and McKendry all added one point on the afternoon.
Albright awaits to see who they will face in the first round of MAC Commonwealth playoffs on May 1
