READING, Pa – The Albright women's lacrosse team defeated the Arcadia Knights 12-7 at Shirk Stadium Saturday afternoon in MAC Crossover action.
The Lions advance to 3-4 overall while the Knights fall to 0-6 overall.
The Lions came out of the gate swinging with a free position goal in the first possession of the game by first-year
Kyra Lycett. Junior
Lauren China quickly followed with a goal of her own less than a minute later at the 28:45-mark to put the Lions up two goals. A free position goal by the Knights at the 26:13-mark put Arcadia on the board to bring the score to 2-1. Juniors
Ashleigh Tortorice and
Marisa Cocca netted back-to-back goals to put Albright up 4-1 with 9:46 left in the first half. The Knights scored the final goal of the first half at the 6:10-mark to bring the score to 4-2.
Lycett and first-year
Brianna Kung scored the first two goals of the second half to bring the Lions' lead to 6-2. The two teams traded scores until the Knights scored back-to-back goals to bring their deficit to 8-6 at the 10:48-mark in the second half. Kung quickly responded and scored her second goal of the game at the 10:37-mark with the assist from first-year
Kayte Moist. China registered her second goal of the game to put the Lions up 10-6 with 9:37 left in the game. The Knights responded with their final goal of the game at the 7:22-mark before Lycett and Cocca scored back-to-back goals to solidify Albright's win at 12-7.
The Lions outshot the Knights 38-20 with 28 shots on goal compared to Arcadia's 13. The Lions also won the battle for groundballs 25-18 and claimed 15 draw controls compared to the Arcadia's six draw controls. Albright also forced Arcadia into making 21 turnovers. Senior goalkeeper
Terae Mason had six saves in 60 minutes of play to claim the win for the Lions. First-year goalkeeper Emily Griffith received the loss for the Knights despite making 16 saves on the game. Lycett led the Lions in scoring with three goals, three points, two ground balls, three draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Kung added a game-high and career-high four points on two goals and two assists. China and Cocca both registered two goals while

Abbie Moist all added one goal.
The Lions return to MAC Commonwealth play against Alvernia at Shirk Stadium Wednesday at 4 pm.
