Baez Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Shuts Out Mount Aloysius, 5-0

READING, Pa. – The Albright women's soccer team claimed a dominant 5-0 win over Mount Aloysius at Shirk Stadium Wednesday evening to close out non-conference play.

With the win, the Lions advance to 5-3-1 overall entering conference action. Meanwhile, the Mounties fall to 4-6 overall.

Albright came out of the gates hungry for a win. Senior Autumn Bieber set up classmate Hailee Brooks for her first career goal off a corner in the 4th minute to take the early lead for the Lions. Junior Emily Serpico followed up on a shot from Bieber and capitalized on the Mounties goalkeeper mishandling of the ball to claim the two-goal lead for Albright in the 11th minute. Senior Caitlin Costigliola sent in a perfect ball off a free kick to place classmate Diza Hasanaj in a scoring position right in front of the net. Hasanaj only needed one touch to lift the ball over the goalkeeper and bring the Lions lead to three in the 16th minute. Bieber, again, sent in a beautiful ball off a corner in the 23rd minute to which first-year Alexis Baez capitalized on for her first career goal, bringing the Lions lead to four. Albright's back line, led by senior defender Jada Britton, did their part in the first 45 minutes of action by not allowing any shots on goal as the Lions held onto the 4-0 lead entering the half.

Albright kept the pressure on the Mount Aloysius back line with a 9-3 second half shot advantage. Junior goalkeeper Emily Sellers kept the Mounties off the board with two crucial saves in the second half. Baez netted her second goal off the game in the 76th minute off a Costigliola free-kick following a Mounties yellow card. Mount Aloysius was never able to find the back of the net, as Albright claimed a dominant 5-0 win.

The Lions held a sizable 18-5 shot advantage over the Mounties and tallied 11 shots on goal. First-year goalkeeper McKenna LeVan earns the win for Albright by starting and not allowing a single goal in 45 minutes of action. First-year goalkeeper Mallory Woodward receives the loss for Mount Aloysius despite starting and making three saves in 45 minutes of play.

Albright returns to the pitch on Saturday as they hit the road to begin MAC Commonwealth play at Lebanon Valley at 1 p.m.
