READING, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer team opened their 2021 regular season at Shirk Stadium with a 5-3 loss to Ursinus Saturday evening.

Playing in their first contest in 672 days, Albright opened up their 2021 season 0-1. Ursinus advances to 1-1.

Ursinus got off to a strong start scoring back-to-back goals in the 12th and 13th minute of the game. The Bears followed with two more goals in the 42nd and 44th minutes to claim a 4-0 lead at the half.

The Lions battled hard in the second half outscoring the Bears 3-1. Albright got on the board in the 53rd minute of the game with a goal from first-year Luke Fanning and an assist from senior Yaniv Gonyoe. Ursinus responded with a goal in the 59th minute to bring their lead to 5-1. Senior Billy Hanratty netted an unassisted goal in the 60th minute to cut Albright's deficit to 5-2. Sophomore John Villano found the back of the net in the 74th minute with the assist from Fanning, but it would not be enough to outlast Ursinus as they claimed the 5-3 win over Albright.
