READING, Pa. - The Albright women's basketball team (2-1) was in action on Thursday night against Neumann University (2-3) in a non-conference clash. The Lions won the game 58-50 behind a monster game from Albright's Mackenzie Dover.
The first 10 minutes of play was all Lions dominating on both ends of the floor. The Lions are one of the top defensive teams in the MAC this season and showed why in the first quarter. Albright held Neumann to just eight points in the quarter. Albright turned defense into offense taking a 16-8 lead into the second period.
The Albright lead would grow even bigger by halftime seeing the Lions up by 13 at the break. Albright used a 8-0 run in the final three minutes and thirty seconds to give them a sizable lead with a half left to play.
The third quarter went to the visiting Knights, outscoring Albright by three cutting away at the Albright lead. The Lions still held a 10 point advantage heading into the final frame.
Neumann brought their third quarter momentum into the fourth, trimming the Albright lead to just six points. However, that would be the closest the Knights would come to the Lions as Albright imposed their will down the stretch to win the game by eight, 58-50.
Dover led the way offensively for Albright pouring in a team high 20 points. Dover also added six rebounds, six steals and four assists. Dover was active offensively and defensively all night and was the difference in the Lions earning the win.
