Women’s Basketball falls on the Road to Williams College

The Albright women’s basketball team was in action on Saturday at the Williams College Classic and fell to the hosts by a final score of 76-69.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. - The Albright women's basketball team (2-2) fell on the road this evening against Williams College (2-0) in the first game of the Williams College Classic. The hosts won the game 76-69.

The two teams came out the gates shooting the ball well. Albright shot just under 50% from the field led by Mackenzie Dover's nine first quarter points. The sophomore guard also added three rebounds and a steal in the opening frame.

Williams College scored 20 points in the second quarter giving them a 44-35 halftime lead.

Albright was strong defensively in the third quarter holding Williams to 29.4% from the field and forcing them into three turnovers. Amina Rauf blocked two shots by Williams looking to climb back into the game.

After a Rauf three cut the deficit to just four in the fourth quarter, Williams College was able to hang on for the win by a final score of 76-69.

Gabby Boggs was strong for the Lions going for a game high 23 points. The starting forward played all 40 minutes and collected 13 rebounds. Boggs is now seven total rebounds away from the all time school record for rebounds.

Dover and Orianna Edmond were the other Lions in double figures tonight. Dover had 17 points and Edmond had 14 points pacing Albright offensively.

Albright will be right back on the court tomorrow afternoon looking to bounce back against Eastern Connecticut State. The game will tip off at 1 p.m.
