PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - The Albright men's basketball team (2-3) was in action on Tuesday night against Valley Forge (1-3) and dominated from start to finish, never trailing in the game. The Lions took the contest over the Patriots, 99-72.
Albright got things rolling from the free throw line to take a 4-0 lead. Eric Chamberlain and Robert Mangum each hit two free throws, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.
The Lions went on a 19-0 run from 10:56 left in the first half until 3:51 left to go in the opening 20 minutes. The 19-0 run gave Albright a comfortable halftime lead up 44-27.
Chris Kouemi led the way for Albright offensively in the first half scoring nine points.
Albright had a sizable lead going into the second half and did not allow Valley Forge to get back into the game.
Albright opened the second half on a 8-3 run, stamping their mark on the game. The defense and offense was clicking on all cylinders for the Lions throughout the contest. Albright won the second half 55-45 giving them the 99-72 road win.
Five different players were in double figures for the Lions tonight. Chamberlain had 16, Kouemi finished with 15, Jeremiah Stanton scored 13, Robert Mangum scored 10 and Zyon Grant rounded out the Lions in double figures.
For Stanton the 13 points are good for a career high in his young Albright career.
Kouemi hauled in 18 total rebounds and eight of which were offensive, keeping the play alive and giving Albright extra possessions.
