ANNVILLE, PA. - The Albright women's basketball team (4-3, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) was in action Wednesday night and the Lions took down Lebanon Valley (2-4, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) by a final score of 51-39 for their second straight win. Strong defense and steady offense was the difference for Albright tonight in earning the victory.
The Lions jumped out to a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Albright six point lead would extend to nine at halftime.
Amina Rauf led the Lions to the 28-19 lead scoring nine points in the first 20 minutes. Mackenzie Dover added eight points of her own and Gabby Boggs was active on the glass securing 10 first half rebounds.
Albright won every quarter tonight and extended their halftime lead to 38-27 at the end of three quarters. The Lions were in control for the majority of tonight's contest and the fourth was no different.
Lebanon Valley made it a seven point game with seven minutes to go. However Albright had an answer.
A Boggs layup, two Lauren Pool buckets and a Orianna Edmond layup quickly put the Lions comfortably back on top after the 8-0 spurt.
After the fourth quarter run the Lions kept the Dutchmen at bay and won the game 51-39.
Offensively Albright scored 11 second chance points to Lebanon Valley's one. The Lions hauled in nine offensive rebounds as a team.
Defensively Albright held LVC to 28% shooting from the floor including holding the Dutchmen to 1-11 from three point range.
