BETHLEHEM, PA - The Albright Women's Basketball team (0-1, 0-0 MAC Commonwealth) opened their 2022-23 season tonight against Moravian University (1-0, 0-0 Landmark Conference) and dropped a heartbreaker on a last second shot from Moravian. The Greyhounds took the non conference matchup 66-64.
Moravian scored the first seven points of the game to jump out to an early lead. The Greyhounds won the first quarter 23-14 but the Lions were gaining momentum going into the second quarter.
Albright outscored Moravian16-11 in the second and brought their first quarter deficit down to four at halftime with Moravian leading 34-30.
The Lions controlled the third quarter and took the lead 47-43 after three quarters of play. The Albright defense held Moravian to just nine points in the quarter on 4-18 shooting from the field.
The game was tightly contested with just two minutes to go. In the final two minutes there were two lead changes and two times the game was tied. With a second remaining and the game tied at 64 the Greyhounds made a game-winning layup to escape with the win.
Gabby Boggs led the way for the Lions tonight filling up the stat sheet. Boogs poured in 23 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, blocked four shots and assisted on four more. The points and rebound total were both good for a game highs.
Two other Lions were in double figures tonight. Orianna Edmond and Amina Rauf each scored 11 points on three shots made from the field and made five free throws.
Albright did a great job getting to the stripe tonight shooting 31 free throws to Moravians eight.

Albright will play next this Saturday, November, 12 against Ursinus College. The home opener for the Lions will tip off at 1 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
