READING, Pa. - The Albright men's basketball team (5-4, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) used a big second half to take the game over Messiah (5-5, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) on Saturday afternoon from the Bollman Center.
The first half was about as even as they came between the two teams. Neither team led by more than six points at any point of the opening 20 minutes.
The Lions hit five threes in the opening half and held Messiah to only two threes made in the half. After the back and forth opening the game was tied 35-35 at halftime.
The Lions came out of halftime and played an inspired brand of basketball over the final 20 minutes. The game was tied 45-45 with 14 minutes to play.
From the 14-minute mark to the end of the game Albright went on a 34-18 run. The run was fueled by Albright's suffocating full court press and lights out three point shooting.
Messiah did not make a three in the second half going 0-10 from beyond the arc corsetry of Albright'S in your face defense.
The Lions strong second half put the game away to earn their second straight victory overall and the 79-63 win over Messiah today.
