READING, PA. - The Albright women's basketball team (6-5, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) played in their first game since last week traveling to Alvernia (8-4, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Wolves protected home court and won the game 74-47 over the visiting Lions.
Albright was able to jump out to a 9-4 lead midway through the first 10 minutes but as the opening quarter closed Alvernia cut the deficit to two points.
Alvernia shot 55% from the floor including four three pointers in the second quarter giving the hosts a 39-24 advantage after 20 minutes of play.
The Lions were strong on the offensive glass in the first half collecting 12 team offensive rebounds to just three offensive rebounds for Alvernia.
Both teams shot over 50% from beyond the three point line in the third quarter. Amina Rauf made two three's trying to spark the Lions into a comeback but Alvernia was able to stifle any comeback attempt.
The second and third quarters were too much to overcome for Albright looking for a comeback in the fourth quarter. Alvernia was able to hold their lead and take the game over the Lions, 74-47.
Rauf led all Albright scorers with 12 points and added four rebounds and three assists.
Mackenzie Dover chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds. Lindsey Williamson added nine points of her own to go along with two rebounds and two blocks.

The Albright women's basketball final game before the new year is set for Tuesday, December 20 against St. Mary's College of Maryland. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. afternoon tip off.
