READING, PA. - The Albright women's basketball team (6-3, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) took control of the game over Gwynedd Mercy (6-2) in the fourth quarter to earn the 72-59 victory on Wednesday night.
Tonight's win is the fourth in a row for the Lions and all four wins have come by at least 12 points.
The two teams came into tonight's game riding multiple game win streaks. The first quarter was back and forth throughout with neither team taking more than a four point lead.
Albright built up an eight point lead late in the second quarter but Gwynedd Mercy was able to close the deficit to just two at halftime.
Gabby Boggs was her typical self scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds in the first half. Boggs was 4-5 from the field and the free throw line. Mackenzie Dover had five rebounds and five assists playing every minute of the opening half.
The Griffins trailed for a majority of the third quarter but found themselves tied with the Lions going into the final frame.
The fourth quarter was dominated by Albright outscoring Gwynedd Mercy by 13. Albright's offense and defense was firing on all cylinders draining five threes and holding the opponent to 3-16 from the floor. The strong fourth quarter led Albright to their fourth straight win by double digits winning the game 72-59.Â
Boggs keeps her double double streak going, extending it to nine games to begin the season.
Amina Rauf scored a career high 23 points tonight. The guard hit five threes on her way to the career high.
