ABERDEEN, Md. – The Albright baseball team suffered two losses to McDaniel in their season opener on Saturday.
 
With the loss, the Lions open the 2022 season 0-2, while the Green Terror pick up their first pair of wins and advance to 2-2.
 
GAME ONE
The Lions were defeated 13-6 in game one. McDaniel earned two runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. Albright got on the board in the top of the second when senior 
Dylan Harlos got on second with a hit to left field. Classmate 
Chris Thomas singled to left field to advance Harlos to third. Thomas was caught stealing to second base while Harlos successfully stole home to score for the Lions. In the bottom of the second, McDaniel went on to score nine more runs through the bottom of the fourth to take an 11-1 lead.
 
In the top of the fifth, Thomas walked to lead off and advanced to second on a single from 
Reece Adam. 
Eddie Meredith singled to center field to advance Adam to third and send Thomas home to earn the RBI. McDaniel scored two more in the bottom of the sixth to claim a 13-2 lead. The Lions best offensive inning came in the top of the seventh where they scored three runs to cut their deficit to 13-6. Thomas walked to lead off and advanced to second following a wild pitch. 
Ethan Karel and 
Trey Smith walked to load the bases. Meredith reached on a throwing error while Thomas scored. 
Nick Sklenarik singled through the right side and earned two RBI as Smith and Karel scored. 
Josh Halye singled to left field to as Meredith tacked the final run of game one.
 
GAME TWO
In game two, the Green Terror scored twice on two hits and one error in the top of the first to take the 2-0 lead. Albright got on the board in the bottom of the third as 
Domenic Borelli got on first to lead off after being hit by a pitch. Borelli advanced to third after 
Roman Berretta doubled to right field. Borelli then scored following a wild pitch as Berretta moved to third. Meredith then singled up the middle and earned the RBI as Berretta scored. Meredith then moved to third following Sklenarik's single through the right side. 
Will Algard flied out to right field but earned the RBI as Meredith advanced home to put the Lions in front 3-2.
 
McDaniel took back the lead in the fourth following three runs behind three hits. The Green Terror extended their lead to 9-3 in the sixth behind four runs and three hits. McDaniel's strongest performance came in the seventh after tallying seven runs behind eight hits to take a 16-3 lead. Berretta got on base in the bottom of the seventh with a single to center field. Meredith singled to left field to move Berretta to second. Sklenarik tallied an RBI as he singled to the right center as Berretta scored the Lions fourth run of game two. McDaniel closed out the game with three runs in the eighth and six in the ninth to claim the 25-6 win.
 
Jeremy Brubaker received the loss for the Lions in game one while 
Gavin Budzyn received the loss in game two as they both open the season 0-1. Ryan Martino (1-0) received the game one win while Hunter Darke (1-1) earned the win for McDaniel in game two.
 
The Lions will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Marywood for non-conference action at 3 p.m.
