READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team earned a dominant 9-0 win over Penn State Berks on Tuesday at the Albright Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Lions improve to 5-1 overall. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions drop to 1-2.
The Lions took a 3-0 lead after claiming all three doubles matches.
Alex Pancu and
Shelby Woodard grasped an 8-1 victory over Madison Hetrick and Cassie Shoupe at the first double spots to get the Lions rolling.
Libby Harford and
Macie Littleton earned an 8-4 victory over Mary Cleveland and Bailey Rocker at the second doubles spot.
Angelina Gaglio and
Olivia Frey rounded out the Lions doubles victories at the third spot with an 8-2 win over Sam Hagenbush and Madyson Sanzotta.
The Lions continued to dominate in the singles matches, as Pancu shut out Cleveland 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Woodward picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 2 spot over Hetrick. Harford continued the momentum for Albright in the No. 3 spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Shoupe. In the No. 4 spot Gaglio picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Osidele while Littleton claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 5 spot over Rocker. Frey completed the sweep over Penn State Berks with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Hagenbush in the No. 6 spot.
The Lions will return to action tomorrow to host Gwynedd Mercy at the Albright College Tennis Courts at 4 p.m.
