SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Albright baseball team was dealt a 16-6 non-conference loss at Susquehanna on Tuesday.
 
With the loss, the Lions drop to 1-15 overall. Meanwhile, the River Hawks improve to 5-11.
 
Susquehanna jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom half of the opening frame behind two hits. Albright answered in the top of the second as 
Reece Adam singled to left field to lead off and stole second. 
Ethan Karel followed with a single to left field and earned the RBI as Adam circled home to get the Lions on the board. 
Trey Smith got on base after being hit by a pitch as Karel moved to second. 
Roman Berretta then reached first on a throwing error as Smith moved to second and Karel advanced home. Sklenarik capped off the Lions run with a sacrificial fly as Smith scored the unearned run to give Albright a 3-2 advantage. The River Hawks tied the game at three in the bottom half of the second inning with one run on one hit and one error.
 
Susquehanna's bats were ringing in the bottom half of the third as they tacked on four runs behind five monstrous hits to grasp a 7-3 lead. The River Hawks added two more to their lead in the bottom of the fourth and capped off their run with another two in the bottom of the fifth, extending their lead to 11-3. The Lions finally snapped the run in the top of the sixth as 
Will Algard got on base after being hit by a pitch. Karel followed with a single to center field and moved Algard to third. Smith added a single to center field and earned the RBI as Algard scored. 
Roman Berretta singled to load the bases. Sklenarik walked as Berretta moved to second, Smith to third, and Karel to home. Smith added a final run for Albright on a passed ball to cut the Lions deficit to 11-6. The River Hawks tallied five unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth to solidify their 16-6 victory.
 
Kris Medford (0-1) receives the loss for the Lions behind 1.0 inning pitched. Cole Bernier (1-0) earns the win for the River Hawks behind 5.2 innings pitched and 27 batters faced. Karel led Albright with two hits while Sklenarik tallied two RBIs on the afternoon.
 
The Lions will return to Kelchner Field on Saturday to host a doubleheader against Franklin & Marshall at 12 p.m.
